Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
1. Overview and Purpose
Effective security is a team effort that requires the participation and support of every employee and affiliate of Safe who interacts with our information systems.
The purpose of this policy is to:
• Protect assets:
Safeguard the company's and our clients' computer equipment, software, and data.
• Mitigate risks:
Prevent virus attacks, network compromises, and legal issues arising from improper use.
• Establish a culture of integrity:
Maintain an environment of openness and trust without imposing restrictions contrary to our professional ethics.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, consultants, and temporary workers of Safe, including third-party personnel with network access. It covers all equipment owned or leased by Safe, as well as the use of personal devices to interact with internal networks.
3. General Use and Information Ownership
• Data Ownership:
All proprietary Safe information stored on electronic devices remains the company's exclusive property.
• Reporting Responsibility:
Theft, loss, or unauthorised disclosure of proprietary information must be reported immediately.
• Business Use:
Systems must be used primarily for business purposes benefiting the company and its clients during normal operations.
4. Security Standards
• Device Protection:
All computing devices must be protected by a password-enabled screensaver with automatic activation set to 10 minutes or less.
• Session Management:
Users must lock the screen or log out when the device is not under their direct supervision.
• Password Security:
Passwords must meet the established complexity policy (minimum 8 characters) and must never be shared with third parties, including family members.
• Malware Prevention:
Extreme caution must be exercised when opening attachments from unknown senders to avoid introducing malicious software.
